All in good time

Time is a Mystery

Since the dawn of time, humans have sought unceasingly to understand the mystery of time. Perhaps, one of our time quotes will speak to you in the gentle voice of understanding.
Something we don’t do enough of is appreciate time. Like those exquisite moments when we are “lost in time”.
Can you think of an experience when time stood still? Where were you not-doing something? Not-doing is being in the moment.
In Tao Te Ching, the word for literally no-doing is “Wu-wei”, pronounced woo-way. Wu-wei doesn’t imply indifference or laziness; it implies effortless action.
We are no-doing when we follow the path of no effort; the path of simplicity; the path of heart. No-doing is the cultivation of our inner-nature, in the present moment.
The Gift of Time

Let’s suppose, in some mystical way, you are given the gift of time for 24-hours. What will you do?
Here are the conditions – you must choose solitary ways to find your bliss – you cannot save gift time. Actually, it’s impossible to save time, anytime. You can only manage time and delude yourself you saved it.
We’ll offer a few potentialities. If nothing sparks your interest, browse through the time quotes (at the bottom).
You could – ride a train…take in a movie, with sub-titles…eat lunch at a French restaurant…have high tea in a tea room…browse through used-book stores…enjoy a solo happy hour in the lobby of a fabulous hotel…write the first chapter of your novel…sing at a Karaoke bar…people watch at the mall…have a massage.
A Time for Everything

“There is a time for everything…” – Ecclesiastes 3:1

There is a time for everything, but you can’t do everything at the same time. You can’t be a full-time parent and travel three weeks out of the month for your job.

  • You can’t start your own business, with five hungry kids and no money in the bank.
  • You can’t open a bed and breakfast unless you can cook and please people.

These examples aren’t supplied for you to accept limitations.

They are provided to help you realize the value of compromise, priorities and pre-planning.

When you truly want to do, to be, to have something, it’s a matter of taking small actions until the dream manifests. Do what you can, when you can. Doing something positive is better than succumbing to failure.

(By the way: If you answered, “Now is the time,” you are correct!)
